PHIXER for Wedding Livestream / dual-mic ceremony stereo that collapses on phone
FOH cans and the videographer cart can feel rich while the same dual-mic ceremony stereo, processional bed, or reception playback thins on guest phones, Facebook Live, Instagram Live, or a mono-ish livestream path. Relatives often preview vows on a single earbud or a summed phone speaker. Check mono and phone fold before processional and before stream go-live. Free phase-repair helps after polarity and timing. It is not a livestream platform, not a time-aligner, and not a substitute for a true mono listen on a phone.

PHIXER is free stereo phase-repair (VST3/CLAP/AU · Win/Mac/Linux) from Riverflux Audio. Frequency-aware phase rotation for leftover L/R fights on stereo material. It is not a livestream platform, not a time-aligner, not a stereo widener, and not a substitute for polarity, delay matching, or a real mono / phone check. Use it after hygiene, when residual spectral cancellation remains on a stereo ceremony / reception path you must keep stereo through phone fold and stream preview.
Three wedding livestream / dual-mic ceremony fold modes
- Livestream / guest-phone fold after encode. Relatives often preview on one earbud or a phone speaker. Dual couple lavs plus officiant handheld that sound huge on the cart can soft-drop vow consonants and low-end warmth when the stream path sums. Habit: true L+R sum on the stream / stereo ceremony bus before you go live. Cousin guide: PHIXER for Church Livestream / multi-mic worship stereo that collapses on phone.
- Dual-mic ceremony stereo on mono PA / foldback. His/hers lavs, officiant handheld vs couple, aisle boom vs lav, string-quartet XY, and stereo processional playback fight when house, cart, or stream matrices fold. Mute wide FX briefly and re-check fold with vows up, not only soloed in cans. Cousin: PHIXER for Theater Sound / musical pit and stage multi-mic phase for livestream fold.
- Stream matrix vs cart vs DJ vs videographer dual-system. Separate matrices can hide mono soft-drop until someone watches vows on a phone mid-ceremony. Habit: mono compatibility checklist and Live FOH: foldback stream phase mono matrix.
Fast wedding / livestream mono audition (about 60 seconds)
- Sum L+R on the stream / stereo ceremony bus. Listen to vow body, officiant speech, and processional beds.
- A/B stereo vs mono. Note what disappears on fold: consonants, low-end warmth, wide pads under the processional or first-dance bed.
- Preview the bounce on a phone speaker or earbud with vows and beds up. Mute wide FX / Haas / side-heavy verbs. Note which path thins the fold.
- Re-check fold after any limiter / encoder / livestream platform pass, not only before cleanup. Habit: mono compatibility checklist.
Honest order of fixes (before spectral phase rotation)
1. True mono / L+R listen plus phone preview
Hard L+R sum on the stream / stereo ceremony bus. Then preview on a phone speaker or earbud with vows and beds. Habit: mono compatibility checklist, Church live, and the 60-second audition above.
2. Polarity if a path flips
His/hers lavs, officiant handheld vs couple, aisle boom vs lav, dual playback beds, stacked first-dance takes. Flip polarity when body returns. Guide: polarity vs phase.
3. Timing / delay-align before spectral tools
Nudge dual lavs, boom vs lav, quartet spots, and wide beds a few ms. Spectral rotation is not a substitute for timing.
4. Prefer correlated lows and center for phone fold
Keep vow body, officiant speech, and critical processional / first-dance bed body correlated. Put width in sides that survive fold. Related: Theater sound and Church live.
5. Only then audition residual L/R spectral fights
If a stereo ceremony / reception path must stay stereo and fold still hollows a band after the steps above, gentle frequency-aware phase rotation can help. Prove it with mono A/B. Watch the YouTube tutorial and the mono demo.
Wedding livestream / dual-mic ceremony path types
| Setup | Common mono failure | First fix |
|---|---|---|
| Stream / guest-phone stereo bus | Vow body and officiant speech soft-drop on phones | Hard mono bounce; phone / earbud check |
| Dual couple lavs (his/hers) | Warmth gone when both lavs play | Polarity then timing; true L+R with vows up |
| Officiant handheld vs couple lavs | Swish or cancel on foldback / stream | Theater sound cousin; less width in lows |
| Stereo processional / first-dance FX | Body gone when stream folds | Mute wide FX; correlated center |
| Cart vs DJ vs stream vs videographer dual-system | Fine in cans, thin on phone mid-vows | Church live; re-check after encoder |
| Limiter / livestream encode after mix | Fine in headphones, thin after encode | Re-check fold after limiter / encode / go-live, not only before |
Theater sound and Church live cousins (short version)
- Theater / musical pit and stage multi-mic and Church livestream / multi-mic worship stereo share the same L+R habit as wedding livestream / dual-mic ceremony stereo before processional and before stream go-live.
- Polarity and timing still come first. Spectral tools after residual L/R fights only.

When not to reach for PHIXER
- Polarity flip, a few ms of delay, feedback, room-EQ, or encoder artifacts that a mono listen already explains.
- Trying to "fix" mono foldback with a widener or Haas on vows / officiant lows.
- Honesty list: When not to use PHIXER.
